Sailing

Quick, stable, self-righting and unsinkable, the revolutionary MacGregor 26M is the fastest and best handling of any of the trailerable cruising sailboats.

If you are buying a sailboat for the first time you really have to consider its sailing performance. A boat that sails well will give you greater security and will give you greater satisfaction in the long term.

The MacGregor 26M sails incredibly well, even in moderate seas. It has a similar hull shape and daggarboard, (very long and thin, therefore creating lots of lift), to several racing boats, as well as having two large rudders, a rotating mast and a mainsheet traveller.

The boat is light but also has a generous sail area of 35 m² (main and genoa). These characteristics, along with the ballast ratio of 39%, combine to make the MacGregor 26M an excellent sailing boat. It can be sailed solo, or with a crew of up to 6, with ease.

The daggarboard is controlled by a line leading to the cockpit. The daggerboard and rudders may be raised completely. This allows the boat to be beached without risk of damage.

You can sail forever, with the wind as your engine, for free!

Comparison with the MacGregor 26X

The 26M has a much more refined performance under sail than he MacGregor 26X (the previous model) and sails very well on all points of sail, including close-hauled.

The most relevent improvements are:Daggerboard on the 26M (centreboard on the 26X)Improved design of the hull shape and rudders (The rudders are larger and a more efficient shape, as well as being adjustable on the 26M to allow for fine-tuning) Rotating mast on the 26MMainsheet traveller on the 26M
